Declan Rice would be making a big mistake if he decides to join Arsenal rather than Manchester City, according to former Premier League goalkeeper David James, as quoted in the ‘Daily Star’.
West Ham star Declan Rice has been making headlines in recent weeks as expected this summer. The defensive midfielder has been a key figure this season for the Hammers and has attracted interest from a number of top clubs, including Manchester City and Arsenal.
In the wake of these rumours, former Premier League goalkeeper David James gave the England international a piece of advice. The former Liverpool goalkeeper believes Rice would take a big step forward in his career if he were to join the Sky Blues, according to the ‘Daily Star’.
“Look, Declan Rice is top drawer, and Man City are the best team in Europe – probably gonna be the best team in the world in a couple of months after they win the [FIFA Club World Cup]. And if Declan Rice is part of that, it’s because he deserves to be, so all the best to him if it happens,” said the Englishman.
James also compared Arsenal to the Cityzens, making it clear that he would not understand a player choosing to sign for the Gunners over the Premier League champions: “Why would he want to play for Arsenal? One team is the European, FA Cup, Premier League champions [and] the other is neither, or none,” he concluded.
