Eskom Spoils Hunt's Big Night

Gavin Hunt's landmark 1000th game as a coach was meant to be a celebration of his remarkable career, but instead, it was left in the dark - literally. The highly-anticipated match between SuperSport United and Golden Arrows was abandoned at half-time due to loadshedding, which caused the lights to go out at the stadium.

It was stated that SuperSport United had failed to organize a generator, leaving the game in darkness. The abandonment of the match was a cruel twist of fate for Hunt, who had been looking forward to this milestone moment.

The game had gotten off to a thrilling start, with Christian Saile scoring the opener for SuperSport United, only for Velemseni Ndwandwe to equalize for Golden Arrows. But as the teams headed into the tunnel at half-time, the lights went out, and the game was abandoned.

Fans took to social media to express their disappointment and frustration, with one fan saying, "I feel for Hunt, man. The unprofessionalism of our football is sick. We've been having loadshedding problems for the past five years. This is a problem that should've been solved ages ago."

Despite the disappointment, Hunt's achievement was not lost on the football community. Stellenbosch FC congratulated Hunt on reaching the milestone, saying, "A remarkable milestone for a true legend of South African football. From all of us at Stellenbosch FC, congratulations to Gavin Hunt on this incredible achievement, your impact on the game is undeniable."

For now, the fate of the abandoned game remains uncertain, with no statement released by the PSL regarding its continuation.
