Game of two halves
Corrections policy

Corrections policy

We fix mistakes quickly and openly.

How to report a mistake

Email editor@45min.co.za with the link to the story and what is wrong. Every story also has a “Spotted a mistake?” link at the bottom.

What we do

  • We check every report and reply within one working day.
  • Factual errors (names, scores, dates, quotes, transfer details) are corrected in the story as soon as they are confirmed.
  • Significant corrections get a note at the end of the story: “Correction: an earlier version of this story said … It has been updated.” with the date.
  • Small spelling or style fixes are made without a note.
  • We do not delete stories to hide mistakes. Stories are only removed for legal reasons, and then we say so.

Transfer rumours

When a reported transfer does not happen, we update the story to say so rather than leaving the rumour standing.

Complaints

If you are not happy with how we handled a correction, write to the editor at editor@45min.co.za. You can also complain to the Press Ombud of South Africa.
