Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siyethemba Sithebe has spoken out about his future as his contract with the club is set to end soon. The 31-year-old, along with teammates Njabulo Ngcobo and Keagan Dolly, is yet to receive an offer for a new deal, with only two months left on his current contract.
There’s been speculation on whether Chiefs will keep Sithebe beyond this season, given his limited appearances this year. He’s only played five times, with four of those matches in the team’s recent games. Sithebe was sidelined earlier in the season due to injuries and changes in the coaching staff, but he’s determined to make an impact in the remaining matches.
Speaking about his contract situation, Sithebe said, “I’m focused on playing right now because the team needs me. There’s a lot of pressure for the last three games. I’ll think about the contract after the season ends.”
Competition for a spot in the midfield is tough, with players like Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Samkelo Zwane, Edson Castillo, and Yusuf Maart all competing for a starting position. Sithebe remains committed to giving his best for the team as they approach the end of the season.
