Bafana Bafana, South Africa’s national football team, has qualified for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco. Their qualification was secured after South Sudan defeated Congo 3-2 yesterday, ensuring that Bafana Bafana will compete in the prestigious tournament.
As the team prepares for their upcoming AFCON qualifier against Uganda, captain Ronwen Williams expressed pride in the squad’s achievements. “We want to finish the year on a positive note. We have had a wonderful and successful year, so we want to keep building on that,” Williams said. He acknowledged the challenges of the match against Uganda but also looked forward to the return of some injured players. “It has been a long journey, and we are proud of our achievement getting to AFCON back-to-back,” he added.
Coach Hugo Broos emphasized that despite already qualifying, Bafana Bafana will still aim for victory against Uganda. “We want to win the game; we want to end top of the group, and that means we have to beat Uganda. Qualifying doesn’t change anything for us,” he stated. Broos hopes for an exciting match with strong support from fans, promising, “It will be a full house, and there will be a lot of atmosphere inside the stadium.”
Bafana Bafana will face Uganda today in Kampala, with kickoff scheduled for 3 PM. The team is motivated to secure a strong finish to their qualifying campaign and continue their progress toward the AFCON tournament.
