Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly decided to transfer list midfielder Sibongiseni Mthethwa during the upcoming January window.
Mthethwa, who joined Amakhosi on a three-year deal from Stellenbosch FC just over a year ago, has struggled for game time at the Naturena-based club. The return of central midfielder Njabulo Blom from the United States has further limited opportunities for the 30-year-old, leaving him sidelined for most of the season.
Mthethwa is yet to make an appearance for Chiefs this season, with sources suggesting he is not part of coach Nasreddine Nabi’s plans.

“A decision has been made to cut ties with Mthethwa,” revealed a source close to the club. “However, because the club paid a significant transfer fee to Stellenbosch last year, they won’t let him go for free. He’ll be placed on the transfer list in the hope of securing a buyer.”
The insider added that despite Mthethwa’s lack of action this season, his quality as a player should attract interest.

“He’s still a top talent, so I don’t think he’ll struggle to find a new team. But Chiefs might not recoup the full amount they paid for him. When they signed him, he was a Bafana international, so he didn’t come cheap.”
Mthethwa remains under contract with Chiefs until June 2026, leaving potential suitors with a challenging negotiation process.
