Kaizer Chiefs are thought to be on the hunt to reinforce their midfield, during the next transfer window.

Chiefs are currently eighth on the DStv Premiership log, with interim coach Cavin Johnson refusing to make January signings.

Johnson had often alluded to the media that, he believes in the current crop of players he inherited at Chiefs. He also stressed he just needs more time to coach them, rather than go into the market. With that being said, it has not quite worked out for him, as the squad suffered a few key injuries. Whether because of those injuries or not, they have since regressed incredibly in 2024.

At the start of the year, Chiefs were in sixth place, but not far away from second place points-wise. Now a run that had seen them win just one game in 2024, saw them slump out of the race for second spot. Amakhosi will now be under a new coach and probably a new technical team altogether next season. The fresh group is expected to be armed with the tools to dip into the market, reinforcing their playing squad.

One of the players that was linked with a move to Chiefs in the January transfer window is Siphesihle Mkhize. According toSoccer-Laduma, the Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder on loan to Sekhukhune United is a serious target!

“Now the deal is coming closer and closer to realization and it will all depend on what Mamelodi Sundowns will say because the player is on loan at Sekhukhune United but with an option to buy. It’s a bit of a tricky situation but Chiefs seem determined to get their man. That’s why they are set to open up talks to have Siphesihle (Mkhize) for next season,” said the source.
