Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has said that he will be making transfers in the upcoming January transfer window to strengthen his team.
Zwane was speaking to the media on the back of Chiefs losing 2-1 to Chippa United; the defeat which exposed the cracks in the team’s rebuilding phase.
As Zwane indicated,the appropriate players must be acquired, but those already on the team must also be given a fair chance before being brutally assessed.
TWO DIFFERENT POSITIONS KAIZER CHIEFS SHOULD REINFORCE
As things stand, Ashley du Preez and Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana are Chiefs’ only two natural strikers, which presents their biggest difficulty up front.
And with Caleb reportedly out for four weeks with a thigh injury, this means more pressure on Zwane and the entire Chiefs team in terms of getting positive results.
The local market might not have enough options, but that is where the Chiefs’ scouting division should step in.
The other position that needs to be bolstered is the right-hand side of the midfield. On the left side, Chiefs don’t have a vivacious right-footed winger like Kgaogelo Sekgota.
What this does, it limits Amakhosi’s attacks as they look offensive on the left-hand side, with the exception of when Reeve Frosler or Dillan Solomons charge forward, less so on the right hand.
So, Zwane should invest on a right winger who can take on opposition defenders without fear and create goalscoring chances for Chiefs.
Even though Kamohelo Mahlatsi is a member of the Chiefs, he hasn’t been used all that much and frequently plays in the center of the field.
