The acquisition of Sibongiseni “Ox” Mthethwa by Kaizer Chiefs has ignited a wave of excitement among the fans. Moreover, it also poses a challenge for coach Molefi Ntseki.

However, amidst the buzz, there is a valid concern about how sudden fame and attention could potentially distract players, as witnessed with past individuals like Siphelele Ntsangase and Dumisani Zuma.
Coach Molefi Ntseki is keen on ensuring that Ox remains focused on delivering consistent and solid performances for Chiefs, undeterred by the spotlight.
Ntseki stressed the significance of a meticulous induction process for Ox and other fresh additions to the team. Joining Kaizer Chiefs is more than just a label of prestige. It demands a thorough understanding of the team’s style, tactics, and expectations.
“When it comes to Ox Mthethwa and the newcomers, the pivotal aspect is the induction,” explained Ntseki. “Joining Kaizer Chiefs does not automatically elevate you to a star player.
The coach cited recent examples of successful transitions such as Pule Mmodi from Arrows and Potsane from Royal AM, highlighting the critical need for a tactical induction.
The transition to Chiefs entails a shift in language and requirements. A move that is transforming a player into a unique entity within the team.
Ntseki drew parallels with players integrated into Manchester City, where gradual integration and guided induction by the coach led many initially benched players to eventually ascend to the status of top performers.
“I often refer to players brought into Man City as an example,” Ntseki stated. “Many of them do not start playing immediately, yet they evolve into top players through strategic induction processes. This is a model we aim to replicate at Kaizer Chiefs for the benefit of our new additions.”
