Kaizer Chiefs Set To Resume Talks With Radomiak For Thabo Cele Transfer Chase?

Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be back in the hunt for long-term target Thabo Cele, after two previous failed attempts.

Chiefs were initially interested in signing Cele after his starring performances for the SA U23 side at the Tokyo Olympics two years ago.

That move did not materialise, however, with it being believed that it was ultimately the late call of then coach Stuart Baxter to not follow through with the club’s interest in Cele. The midfielder then eventually signed for current side Radomiak, who play in the top flight of Polish football.

That did not appear to deter Chiefs from going back in to test the waters at the start of the season, but their offer to the club was apparently rebuffed by the club.

It is said that, the driving force for that second pursuit is current Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane with Cele being a player who is thought to command huge admiration from him.

Now with his deal set to come to an end at Radomiak at the conclusion of the current season, it is perhaps no surprise that the Amakhosi are thought to be plotting yet another chase for the box-to-box midfielder, according to Soccer-Laduma.

CHIEFS REGISTER CELE INTEREST AGAIN

“Soccer-Laduma understands that the Soweto giants are monitoring the situation of the former national u23 player, a player they tried to sign before the start of the current campaign.

His deal has an option to renew for another year and it is understood that his current side are yet to take up the option.” Wrote the publication.

Having started the season as an undisputed regular, Cele has struggled for game time upon his return from an injury. The player has only made four substitute appearances since then, which Chiefs will be hoping could lead to his release so they can have an easier chance of snapping up his signature.
