After losing on the club’s birthday, Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane talked about disappointing the organization’s chairman Kaizer Motaung and “forefathers.”
Following victories over Orlando Pirates in the Soweto derby to end their regular season before the FIFA World Cup break and Golden Arrows in their season opener, Chiefs appeared to be on the right track to build momentum and move up the table.
On the club’s 53rd birthday on Saturday, the Glamour Boys were defeated by Sekhukhune United by a score of 1-0, revealing once more their inconsistent play.
Zwane expresses regret for disappointing the club’s “forefathers” and chairman Motaung Snr by losing on their special day.

In a post-game press conference, Zwane expressed his disappointment, saying. “I’m disappointed because it was our birthday, the club’s birthday, and we wanted to give a good present to the (Kaizer Motaung Snr), our forefathers, and all the people who have always been a part and parcel of this journey.”
So it didn’t happen, ja. These things do happen. Maybe after this game, we’ll be stronger since we made a lot of chances. When you look at our game plan, it succeeded; it was just one night of disappointment. I was going to worry if we played poorly. ‘Mangethe’ continued, saying that they will regroup, correct their errors, and try again because “it’s not the end of the world” for them.
Amakhosi Coach Reflects on Mid-Season Setbacks
Being only halfway through the season, the Amakhosi icon added that there is still much to play for and that “football is a funny game.”
“I’m personally sad, the supporters came out in force to lift our spirits, but regrettably the results did not arrive,” he continued. “It’s not the end of the world for us; we’ll regroup.”
“We’ll examine where we can make improvements and fixes before moving forward. As I previously stated, I still hold on to this belief. After all, this is only our 15th game, and there are still 15 more to go.
We might be losing now, but there will also be moments when we’re building momentum and winning games consistently, and we’ll reach that stage eventually because it’s part of football, he continued.
