Gavin Hunt expresses significant worries over CAF interclub tournament

Gavin Hunt, SuperSport United coach, unveils team's significant apprehension ahead of CAF interclub tournament.

The major difficulties that SuperSport United's coach Gavin Hunt has revealed his squad will likely face as they prepare for the next CAF interclub competition in the following season are insightful.

Depending on their final ranking, the South African team, which is presently in third place on the DStv Premiership log table, could compete in either the CAF Champions League or the CAF Confederation Cup. SuperSport United and Orlando Pirates, who are tied for second place with 51 points each, are engaged in a tense race with one game remaining in their campaigns.

Gavin Hunt claims that his main issue is the lack of an experienced team capable of competing in European football.

The Tshwane team is constrained by funds because they have a demanding and constrained budget. To create a properly balanced team this season, they had to acquire free agents and players on loan.

“The squad won’t be big enough [for CAF], no chance,” said Hunt.

“There are a lot of decisions being made wherever we finish [in the DStv Premiership] around the team. Keeping players and try getting one or two.

“Africa it’s about having certain players where you can rotate a little bit. It’s not good having a lot of players because you can’t rotate certain positions.

“For me, in Africa you need more centre-backs, more central midfielders and you need more strikers because of the demands and variation of games.

Hunt added that his men are prepared to play in Africa the next season. either in the Confederations Cup or the Champions League.

When questioned about the players' level of hunger and desire, Hunt responded affirmatively, stating, "Absolutely."

“But you got to be careful. You got to look after your product here which is home first, try to win domestically first,” he added.
