Will Castillo, Maart, and Mthethwa form a three-man attack? Ntseki's reaction

Molefi Ntseki, Head Coach of Kaizer Chiefs, Addresses Potential Lineup with New Signing Mthethwa, Midfielders Castillo and Maart.

After Amakhosi signed Sibongiseni Mthethwa, doubts arose about how Ntseki would build his midfield with shown players Edson Castillo and Yusuf Maart in the mix.

Mthethwa made his DStv Premiership debut as a substitute last week in Chiefs' 2-1 win over Sekhukhune United, replacing Castillo, who had started alongside Maart and George Matlou.

Maart played as a number six in this match, whereas Castillo was more advanced. According to the former Bafana Bafana coach, Castillo will play a deeper, number eight role in the future.

According to Ntseki, the trio might share the field depending on the tactical aims of the game. He also discussed the potential possibilities when all three are featured together.

Molefi Ntseki's Thoughts on Castillo, Maart, and Mthethwa Appearing in the Same Lineup

According to Ntseki, the potential of seeing Castillo, Maart, and Mthethwa on the pitch together is dependent on a variety of conditions such as the game plan, the present scenario in the match, and the precise objectives they hope to achieve. He explained that if the team requires offensive support, all three could be fielded, and similarly, if defensive strength is necessary, they could all play together.

Ntseki underlined the quality of these players and the balanced midfield alternatives they present.

He emphasized the necessity of player rotation and giving everyone in the squad equal opportunities, emphasizing that excellent performances will ensure players' places in the team.

“Yeah it will be possible depending on the game plan, depending on the moment, the face of the game and what do we want to achieve in that moment,” Ntseki told the media.

“If ever we want to see both of them [Castillo and Maart] helping the team offensively, yes we’ll see the three of them. If we want to see both of them [Maart and Mthethwa] helping the team defensively, it will happen [they will all play].

“Because these are good quality players and I think when you profile our midfielders now, there’s a very good balance.

“The unfortunate part is that when you have the three of them on the pitch, you’re likely to have two of them off the pitch. When you have four of them in the team, you might have three of them not in the team.

“But I think the most important is the understanding that we are developing within each one of them to say the squad has got this number of players and each one of them will get a chance to play and hopefully do well.

“And whenever you do well, there’s no reason for any coach to take you out.”
