Bobby Motaung Comments On Zwane Poor Start This Season, After Mzansi Reacts On Chiefs Performance!

Kaizer Chiefs Team Manager Bobby Motaung has stated that the club will be patient with their ‘great’ Arthur Zwane as he begins his new role as head coach.

Motaung and the Chiefs management have been singing the same song as Zwane since he replaced Stuart Baxter as temporary head coach with Dillon Sheppard about restoring the Soweto giants’ tradition and identity.

Amakhosi management has been without silverware for eight years, but they parted ways with Ernst Middendorp after losing the league title in the final 30 minutes of the 2019/20 season, Gavin Hunt, who played a key role in their historic run to the CAF Champions League final in the 2020/21 season, and two-time league winner Stuart Baxter, who appeared to be steering them to a top-three finish.

All three have been fired for playing styles that are not compatible with the Amakhosi brand and the renowned motto of doing things “the Chiefs way.”

In an interview with the media, Motaung stated that ‘10111,’ whose appointment is notably to bring the club’s deep-rooted history back into the club, will receive support and patience, even if silverware isn’t immediately achieved – should their entertaining brand of football return to the Glamour Boys.

“Like I said, different coaches, different reasons why they left, the journey for these guys [Sheppard and Zwane] they’ve been part of the process of the changes that have been made, they’ve seen the pain, they’ve been through the pain,” Motaung told iDiski Times on Thursday afternoon at FNB Stadium.

“They know the ethos of the club, they know what the aims are, so sticking with them means we must encourage and empower them to try to phase off that phase of bringing in another new coach, bringing in another new coach with a different mentality.”

“As a result, they’ve been a part of it. Logically, we should keep our trained coaches as coaches, encourage and support them, and allow them to continue. So coaches who have departed in the past for whatever reasons, you know, we can’t look back and say, “This one didn’t do this strategically, this one… we haven’t done that at Chiefs.”

We thank them for their contributions in the past, and now we’re looking to the future, new coaches, fresh ideas, [a] young coach, our own, our own legend, and our own coach who went to courses, worked with coaches practically in the club, been there, seen it done, and now it’s his chance.”

In the next days, the Chiefs plan to make additional technical staff changes as well as reveal the incoming and exiting players for the 2022/23 season.
