Linker Mbesuma has been called to be part of the 24-man squad for U17 Africa Cup of Nations in Algeria.
Having commenced his football career at an early age with the SuperSport Soccer School, the 16-year-old went on to play for Bidvest Wits before moving to TS Galaxy. Currently, he is associated with Jomo Cosmos.
Over 50% of the team that secured victory in the U17 Cosafa Cup, where they defeated South Africa, has been preserved for the upcoming AFCON tournament where they are placed in Group B with South Africa.
Mbesuma, who is the son of the renowned Premier Soccer League legend and AFCON 2012 winner, Collins Mbesuma “Ntofontofo“, is part of the team and currently playing for Jomo Cosmos. The team’s objective is to secure a place in the last-four, which would guarantee them a spot in the U20 FIFA World Cup scheduled later this year
On April 30th, the Young Chipolopolo will face Nigeria, followed by a crucial match against South Africa on May 3rd. The team led by Bakala will conclude their Group stage matches by playing against Morocco, who are one of the favorites to win the tournament, on May 6th.
