Kaizer Chiefs Player Njabulo Blom has been given a few PSL clubs he can choose from if the Soweto giants decide not to renew his contract.
Blom's contract with the club expires in June 2023, and he has already been linked with SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns, among other teams.
To sign Blom, Matsatsantsa has already disqualified itself since they feel Blom's pay is far too high for their financial strategy.
Although SuperSport United cannot afford to sign Blom, clubs like Orlando Pirates and Sundowns can, according to SuperSport United CEO Stanley Matthews.
Blom has not yet been associated with Pirates, but Matthews anticipates a battle with Sundowns for the utility star.
And according to Matthews, SuperSport United is not currently willing to join that war.
STAR BLOM OF THE KAIZER CHIEFS' FUTURE IS PROJECTED
“He’s going to be a player that the big three are going to fight over, and we can’t go into that war – I can’t go into a gunfight with a pocket knife. We have a different model of recruiting and identifying players,” Matthews told SABC Sport.
“That means respecting the budget parameters my shareholders, have even me. We simply can’t afford Blom, and I feel terrible even talking about a player that belongs to Chiefs.
“We have never been contenders to sign him, there’s no real prospect of him ever playing for the club,” added Matthews.
