Njabulo Blom Contract Updates

Njabulo Blom did not play when the two Soweto titans finally met at the FNB Stadium over the weekend. George Matlou replaced him in the starting lineup, and he was not present in the matchday squad. That seemed to worry some Amakhosi fans, who assumed that his absence had something to do with the player's ongoing contract dispute with the club.

Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane, on the other hand, sought to allay such fears when he disclosed to SuperSport TV that Blom was not eligible for selection due to illness. The player received fantastic news earlier this week when he was called up to the Bafana Bafana squad. More importantly, he has been called up to the national team in his preferred position of the defensive midfielder.

Given that Kaizer Chiefs has not complied with Njablo Blom's contract demand, there is a great deal of suspicion that he was truly ill over the weekend. Instead, it is believed that the defensive midfielder staged an illness in order to force management to take his contract demands seriously.

Njabulo Blom

Njabulo Blom is still dedicated to the Soweto giants and only wants a 4-year contract if the contract's requirements are completed, 45min can confirm. With players like Keagan Dolly, Khama Billiat, and Itumeleng Khune taking a significant portion of the player's salary budget, Kaizer Chiefs management is currently considering their options, In order to meet Blom's contract requirements, they may consider letting go of Khama Billiat.

Although no player is greater than the club, this newspaper can attest that Njabulo Blom is not yet trying to force his way out and that the Kaizer Chiefs management is still committed to having the gifted midfielder on their books.
