Achraf Hakimi, a defender for Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco, has been legally charged with sexual assault by French prosecutors.
Hakimi, 24, is accused of sexually assaulting a woman last month at his suburb Paris residence.
On Sunday of last week, a 24-year-old lady went to a police station to report an incident, but she didn't press charges.
An investigation into the matter was started earlier this week, and on Friday morning it was revealed that he had been charged over the claims after being questioned by investigators on Thursday.
The allegations are 'false,' according to what Hakimi's attorney said earlier in the week.
"The allegations are untrue. According to Hakimi's attorney Fanny Colin, he is composed and making himself approachable to the investigators.
'The club supports the player, who has firmly denied the allegations and believes the justice system,' PSG said in a statement earlier this week. Paris St-Germain is a company that encourages respect both on and off the field.
