Chiefs have seen the likes of defenders Kgotso Moleko, Philani Zulu, Ramahlwe Mphahlele as well as Sibusiso Mabiliso join AmaZulu from their ranks.
NOT ALL RECRUITS HAVE BEEN A SUCCESS
While the success rate has so far varied from those players, it does not seem as if AmaZulu will stop looking in the direction of Chiefs for defensive reinforcements anytime soon.
While the likes of Moleko and Zulu have been deemed surplus to requirements after just one season, Mphahlele has proven to be a success at Usuthu thus far. Mabiliso, on the other hand, is yet to make an impact upon his return to the club.
However the respective fates of the players pans out, one thing is for sure, AmaZulu do not seem to be shy in giving ex-Chiefs players lifelines.
One other player, who is not a member of the defence, but was also given a new lease on life in Durban is attacker Dumisani Zuma.
The 27-year-old was released from Naturena after countless run in’s with their code of conduct.
He has since been a feature for his new club, making multiple appearance as an impact substitution.
NGCOBO NEXT ON AMAZULU’S RADAR
Now according to the latest 45min.com publication, AmaZulu are set to return to Chiefs in hope of giving another defender a lifeline. This time it is believed that it is centre back Njabulo Ngcobo who they are after.
AmaZulu are interested in Njabulo Ngcobo from Kaizer Chiefs. He has been identified as a target for the club. The boy previously played for AmaZulu and he came through the club’s development.
" Expect the club to make a move for him at the end of the season, but it will all depend on Chiefs, on whether they will be willing to part ways with the player as he is contracted to them” said a source to the publication.
HE HAS STRUGGLED AT CHIEFS
Ngcobo joined Chiefs from Swallows amid much fanfare, at the beginning of last season, after scooping up the PSL Defender of the Year Award in his debut season.
However, his move to Chiefs has so far proven to be a troubled one with a lack of game time and controversial incidents so far, proving to be an issue for him.
He will now have a rare opportunity to play, in the Carling Black Label Cup this weekend, where he will hope to remind coach Arthur Zwane of his qualities
