Kaizer Chiefs Molding Their Own Haaland

Bálint Bajner, a striker from Hungary, was someone Amakhosi was interested in acquiring for 2019 according to former Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp.

According to reports, Bajner is working out with Chiefs as the Soweto giants desperately look for a center-forward to improve their offensive performance.

Bajner (31), who trained under Middendorp's supervision for three weeks in 2019 when the player was 28 years old, reportedly impressed Amakhosi's whole technical staff, who urged that the club's management sign the former Borussia Dortmund player.

these are Bajner career statistics:

However, it appears that Amakhosi's management decided to keep Leonardo Castro at Naturena after the Colombian striker and club changed their minds about splitting up.

Bajner, a 196 cm tall player, spent the majority of his time with Borussia Dortmund's reserve team during his two stints there between 2012–13 and 2017–18, though he did play 19 minutes in a senior Bundesliga game during the first of those two seasons.

He also played for West Ham United's reserves while on loan in England in 2008 from the Romanian team Liberty Salonta and at Ipswich Town. According to the website Transfermarkt, he last played for Pécsi MFC in the second division of Hungary, which he left in July 2021.

During his 2019 trial, he characterized the Hungarian as a player with good physical attributes and a strong work ethic.

“He also brings the pressing threat and is very educated, soccer-related of course.

“If you were in a high-performance centre of a team like Borussia Dortmund or with any other team with a high-performance centre in Europe, you know what it means to follow advice.”

Although Bajner's record indicates that he is not as prolific a goal scorer as Peter Shalulile of Mamelodi Sundowns or Bradley Grobler of SuperSport United, he is described as a lively center-forward who can challenge defenders and create space for other attackers.

When he was playing for a lower-tier Italian team, Sulmona, in 2011–12, he scored 11 goals, which is the most he has ever scored in a season.

After deliberating for several weeks, Chiefs finally signed Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana, a striker from Burundi, in August. The forward scored six goals in six games before suffering an injury.

Four of those goals came from the penalty spot, and the fact that Chiefs are monitoring Bajner suggests the team still has concerns about Bimenyimana's technique.
