The 20-year-old is an incredibly talented defensive midfielder who fits the mold of Nengomasha, who is regarded as one of the best midfielders in PSL history.
He plays for the Amakhosi reserve team and is a fringe member of the first team after making his PSL debut two months ago against Stellenbosch FC.
Samkelo Zwane is tipped by Tinashe Nengomasha to be Njabulo Blom’s replacement.
Samkelo and I both joined the Chiefs at the same age. He shouldn't put himself under undue pressure. People are going to compare, Nengomasha warned Isolezwe.
"Perhaps he plays like me, and perhaps he is superior to me. I'm humbled that people think of him in comparison to me. He should keep doing what he is doing in order to develop properly.
He needs to be able to handle the pressure at Chiefs. The fact that he is playing under a coach [Arthur Zwane] who is aware of this pressure is a plus. Samkelo must put in a lot of effort and seek to catch up to elite African athletes like Ghana's Michael Essien, who is well-known worldwide.
Zwane ought to continue playing in Europe. Because there aren't many players from the Cosafa region playing in Europe, Southern African football needs talented players like Samkelo to grow. The national teams of our countries can only be strengthened by doing that.
