City Boss Has No Interest in Selling His Star Player To Chiefs

Cape Town City's Chairman, John Comitis, has expressed his thoughts on the recent transfer debacle surrounding star midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane. The midfielder's proposed move to Kaizer Chiefs fell through on the last day of the transfer window, leaving both the player and his current club in limbo.

According to reports, all the details for the move had been finalised, and with only official paperwork left to sign, Chiefs abruptly changed their minds. As a result, Cape Town City exercised the one-year option on Mdantsane's contract until June 2024.

Despite the situation, Comitis remains optimistic about Mdantsane's future with the club. Speaking to the Siya crew, he said, "With Mdu, we'll sit with him and extend it even longer. We'll sit with him and give him a new contract. With us, he's part of our plans, he's an asset to the club, and we'll continue with him."

Mdantsane was Cape Town City's standout player during the 2021/22 season, making 32 appearances in all competitions, with 10 goals and one assist to his name. Although he has yet to score this season, Comitis remains confident in his abilities, stating, "There's no pressure on him from the club, and he's in our plans."

While Mdantsane may still sign a pre-contract with a team of his choice in six months' time, Comitis is determined to keep the midfielder at Cape Town City. "In the absence of anything concrete, there's no reason [for him to leave]," he added.

Overall, Comitis' comments suggest that the club is eager to keep hold of Mdantsane, and that they are willing to negotiate a new contract with him. The Chairman's reassuring tone also suggests that the midfielder remains an important part of Cape Town City's plans, and that they have faith in his ability to deliver the goods on the pitch.
