Cameroonian striker will ultimately sign with the Pirates

The in-form striker Marou Souaibou from Cameroon is reportedly close to being signed by Orlando Pirates.

Marou Souaibou, who played for Cameroon's Indomitable Lions at the FIFA World Cup, was said to have signed a multi-year contract worth approximately R3.4 million plus add-ons with Pirates, according to the Cameroonian football website kick442.com, toward the end of the previous year.

SABC Sport provided more information to imply in a different report that the 22-year-old was anticipated to join the Buccaneers following successful discussions between Pirates and his club Coton Sport.

it was revealed that the club had formally agreed to sell Souaibou for US$200 000 (R3.4 million), plus a 15% selling-on charge.

At the end of last year, football agent Mike Makaab, who helped the parties reach an agreement, claimed that the announcement of the signing was premature and "unprofessionally" communicated

"The statement was released prematurely because the deal hasn’t been concluded,” Makaab told Gagasi FM in mid-December, as quoted by Soccer Laduma.

"We are very annoyed, and I know Orlando Pirates is very annoyed because that’s not the way the Chairman operates. And obviously somewhere along the line, a source within the club or someone connected to a source within Coton Sport has released the details of the deal and that’s not how Pirates work, and it’s not how we work as a professional agency".

Makaab claimed at the time that he would be meeting with Irvin Khoza to settle the situation, and it may now finally be resolved in-form striker Marou Souaibou from Cameroon is reportedly close to being signed by Orlando Pirates.
