An Amakhosi star who is scheduled to retire in the Soweto derby against Orlando Pirates may be leaving Kaizer Chiefs fans with a bittersweet farewell.

One of the most intriguing and emotional Soweto derbies ever is shaping up to be this one.
The first time in more than two years that over 90 000 fans have returned is just the beginning. We could now witness a legendary Amakhosi player play for Chiefs in a game he left so many memories in.
According to The Kosi Bay News, Erick Mathoho has been selected by Amakhosi supporters to start the game.
He will thus start for Amakhosi on November 12, 2022, in the second Soweto derby of the Carling Cup.
But this might be his final appearance for Amakhosi and probably certainly his last Soweto derby. Ironically, he scored the game-winning goal in the most recent Soweto derby. If Amakhosi defeat the Buccaneers in the Carling Cup, he would still participate in the final, which would serve as his final game.
With the most recent Chiefs coaches, Stuart Baxter, Arthur Zwane, and Dillon Sheppard, Mathoho has lost favor. Since Zitha Kwinika and Edmilson Dove arrived, Mathoho has slipped farther down the food chain. He is also the inspiration for people like Siyabonga Ngezana and Njabulo Ngcobo
