The recent match between Kaizer Chiefs and Cape Town City ended in a lackluster 0-0 draw in the DStv Premiership over the weekend. Neither team showed much promise, failing to light up the field with any noteworthy plays.
With Chiefs missing both their regular central midfielders Yusuf Maart and Edson Castillo due to suspensions, changes were inevitable. It was anticipated that Sibongiseni Mthethwa would be a natural choice to step in, given his background with Stellenbosch FC. However, much to everyone’s surprise, it was Siyethemba Sithebe who got the nod instead of Samkelo Zwane, despite Zwane having more bench appearances under coach Cavin Johnson.

Speaking to the media post-game, Coach Johnson shed light on his selection, expressing satisfaction with Sithebe’s performance. “I don’t know why he (Sithebe) has only played one game. He showed dedication since Sunday to get this chance, and today he delivered. I’ve always believed in giving everyone a fair chance,” remarked Johnson, as reported by FARPost.
Before this match, Sithebe had only seen action once this season, a forgettable outing against Mamelodi Sundowns. His lack of appearances is particularly puzzling considering reports suggesting his imminent departure from Chiefs as his contract expires. The midfielder has been linked with moves back to his former club AmaZulu or possibly to Golden Arrows.

Sithebe’s unexpected inclusion raises questions about his future with the club. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his contract, he seized the opportunity on the pitch and impressed his coach. Whether this performance will secure him a prolonged stay at Chiefs remains to be seen, but for now, Sithebe has shown his worth when given the chance.
At some point we will have to go straight to the players, Yes CJ is terrible no lies, But our players? Sithebe did his best on attacking side, He created few good chances, One for Duba and the other for Usain Bolt in either half,Taking out Duba for Solomons and keeping Bolt when

We can argue until sunset, As football fans we know a better sithebe at Amazulu, but if a coach wants to give credit to such nonsense I’m afraid Kc is not going anywhere, An honest coach would take nothing from that Game…all players are playing kaak
