Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Dominic Isaacs has voiced his opinion on the club’s coaching situation, advocating for continuity with current coach Cavin Johnson despite the presence of other notable candidates on the shortlist.
In an exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma, the Cape Town legend emphasized the importance of consistency from the players in delivering results for the club rather than hastily seeking a new coach.

Isaacs addressed the five coaches reportedly shortlisted to potentially replace Johnson at the end of the season: Pitso Mosimane, Manqoba Mngqithi, Alexandre Gallo, Vanderlei Luxemburgo, and Raul Caneda. He expressed his belief that changing coaches may not be the solution, asserting, “I don’t think they need to change the coach.”
Stressing Johnson’s capabilities, Isaacs remarked, “If it was me, I would stick with coach Cavin. He is one of the best coaches in the country and has what it takes to make a difference at Chiefs.” He suggested giving Johnson six months at the start of the season to showcase his abilities, citing recent improvements in results since Johnson’s appointment. Isaacs also highlighted underlying issues within the team’s dynamics, noting a lack of cohesion even when ahead in matches. He urged introspection into the root causes of the team’s struggles, questioning, “What’s really wrong at the team? Something is holding them back.”
Reflecting on past coaching changes, Isaacs pointed out that replacing Arthur Zwane and Molefi Ntseki did not resolve the team’s issues. He questioned the efficacy of yet another coaching change, advocating for stability instead.
