With Edson Castillo having joined Kaizer Chiefs this season, from his home country Venezuela the Kaizer Chiefs midfielder has been a blessing for the Naturena based Club, Edson Castillo is Kaizer Chiefs top goal scorer this season with 5 goals.
Castillo known for his ability to playmake from deep, has been a huge threat in front of goal for the Soweto giants.
Kaizer Chiefs may not stand in the way of their star midfielder Edson Castillo if he wants to move abroad, and the Siya crew has learnt what Amakhosi might want for the player.
Soccer Laduma has recently reported Egyptian giants Zamalek’s interest in Castillo, a player who has been outstanding both in midfield and in scoring goals when lurking around the box.
Siya sources in the know about the situation have indicated that Amakhosi may be looking at around R40 million for the Venezuelan if he wants to leave Naturena for any other team.
The sources have added that the club has reflected on how they got the player at the beginning of this season and examined his value.
“Now that the inquiry has reached the management stage they have come up with the price that would fit Castillo if he is to leave before his contract expires. He is a quality player and for him to attract interest from outside means they have seen something and that’s why the board and management think that the right price could be around R40 million,” said the Siya source.
It’s not like there is anything official (from Zamalek) at the moment but they are preparing for any eventuality and hence they have come up with that price tag,” the source told Soccer Laduma.
A second Siya source discusses how Chiefs took into account the cost of his current contract with Chiefs.
“You know his contract is only ending in June 2025 and his value is high because he is an international player and he didn’t come cheap to Chiefs as well. They are considering all those things for them to charge any team that would want to sign him whether it’s this season or just before the end of his contract.
