Kaizer Chiefs go international as they look to strengthen their Full Backs position, 45min has been reliably informed that Kaizer Chiefs is closing in on a signing of a Tanzanian Left Back.
While Kaizer Chiefs have been linked with a number of players in the DSTV Premiership, it seems that they have successfully managed to go outside and secure their first signing of the transfer window.
Kaizer Chiefs may be waiting for the Africa Cup of Nations to finish before they can finalise the deal of their big target in defence, the Siya crew understands.
Sources close to the club have indicated that Amakhosi may want to finalise a deal for Simba SC defender Mohamed Hussein.
As previously reported by Soccer Laduma, Chiefs were expected to be monitoring Hussein for some time now as a replacement for left back Sifiso Hlanti.
The source now adds that Amakhosi will wait for the defender to participate at Afcon where he is with the Tanzania national team.
The club has now embarked on looking for a left back who could possibly replace Sifiso (Hlanti). They want to bring in Tanzanian Mohamed (Hussein) but that can only happen after the Afcon as the player is part of the Tanzania national team that is currently at Afcon. He was even in the squad that lost 3-0 to Morocco,” said the Siya source.
“So everything will be finalised after Afcon,” the source told Soccer Laduma.
A second Siya source added that the Tanzanian, commonly known as Shabba in reference to Siphiwe “Shabba” Tshabalala, a former Chiefs favourite.
“The club and the player are both preparing for a new life away from Tanzania but that will all depend on Chiefs right now. The deal is as good as done as we speak but they are waiting for the Afcon to finish because many things could happen during Afcon and that’s why they have agreed to wait until after the tournament,” the source observed.
Soccer Laduma contacted Chiefs for comment but no response was received from the club while preparing this story.
