The Premier Soccer League January transfer is currently open but there has been little transfer activity witnessed.
Kaizer Chiefs are yet to announce any new player amid glaring shortcomings in every department of their squad.
Khanye has selected five players he believes could help turn around things at Naturena as Amakhosi face the grim possibility of finishing the season trophyless.
WHAT KHANYE SAID
“Defensively I think Kaizer Chiefs should sign Stellenbosch captain Deano Van Rooyen. He is the only other right-back who can compete with Khuliso Mudau at Bafana Bafana,” Khanye said as per iDiski Times.
“I don’t understand why he is not in the squad instead of Nyiko Mobbie. Chiefs need a player like Van Rooyen. He is very quick, very good at recovering when not in possession, and he has proven himself as a trophy winner.
“Khanyisa Mayo would be another good fit for Chiefs. His father played for the club. He is very good technically. He still needs to improve but he has proven himself to be a good goal-scoring forward,” he continued.
“Other players for me would be Qobolwakhe Sibande, a left-back at Stellenbosch. Brice Ambina, defensive midfielder at Cape Town City and Keanu Cupido, the centre-back at Cape Town City,” concluded Khanye.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Having carved for themselves a reputation of hoping from one transfer window to another while committing the same transfer mistakes, it is to be seen if Amakhosi will finally get it right in the market this January.
So far they are yet to sign any player and all eyes are on the Soweto giants whose new signings will be heavily scrutinised.
With Itumeleng Khune likely to be in his last season as an Amakhosi stopper, they are rumoured to be after Chippa United shot-stopper Stanley Nwabali who looks like a good target.
WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?
Amakhosi are currently on the Africa Cup of Nations break and it provides a quiet few weeks for them to fully chase their transfer targets without the noise that usually characterises any transfer window.
By the time they resume their Premier Soccer League campaign by hosting TS Galaxy next month, Amakhosi would have had enough time to beef up their squad.
