Kaizer Chiefs has recently announced the termination of their long-standing 22-year partnership with Nike.
The unexpected move has left fans in surprise. The American brand has been synonymous with the club for over two decades. However, Kaizer Chiefs has wasted no time in securing a new kit deal. The Amakhosi have signed a five-year contract with Kappa, a sports brand with a prior association with the club.
Kappa previously produced the Johannesburg-based club’s shirts from 1989 to 1996, marking their first major kit deal.
The fans of Kaizer Chiefs are eagerly anticipating the unveiling of the 2023 kit. This kit will be exclusively designed by Kappa. The company’s CEO in South Africa, Michael Joseph, expressed confidence in the brand’s ability to revive the team’s former glory.
It was remarked by Joseph, “Kappa, together with Kaizer Chiefs, is determined to rekindle the spirit and nostalgia of the 1990s, delivering something extraordinary to these dedicated fans.” Consequently, the statement highlights the commitment of Kappa to not only providing quality sportswear but also capturing the essence of the club’s historic achievements.
In a related development, Kappa has recently replaced Adidas as the official kit supplier for Aris FC. The unveiling of Aris FC’s home, away, and third jerseys occurred last week, showcasing Kappa’s design prowess.
Insider information suggests that Kaizer Chiefs’ home kit may bear similarities to the gold and black attire worn by Aris FC, reflecting Kappa’s distinctive style.
